Political Trivia of the Day

WE'VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com

Yesterday, Chris Matthews said that if Liddy Dole loses her Senate seat, it will be the first time since 1952 that there will be neither a Dole nor a Bush as a high elected official (House, Senate, Vice-President, President).

I decided to fact check, and couldn't find anything prior to Bob Dole's election to the House in 1961. Papa Bush started in the house in 1967. But then Matt reminded me of Prescott Bush, who actually DID begin his Senate career in in 1952.

So, however you look at it, a long run.

And good night, Mrs. Calabash.
