Do Endorsements Matter?

WE'VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com

A lot of us like them this year because so many conservative papers (think Houston Chronicle) are coming out for Obama.

We like the lengthening of the Obama list compared to the McCain list.

Then again, if you're reading DCW, there is a good chance you've already made your decision, and this is just gravy. That is, the endorsement of 1 paper, or 100, probably won't change how YOU, personally, vote.

What about that 8% of the electorate which is undecided? Do endorsements matter to them? Can endorsements make a difference to leaning voters? Do endorsements matter more because this is a transformation year? Are some of the conservative papers endorsing Obama just because people "like a winner"?
