Biden's mother-in-law dies

"The Obama-Biden campaign today canceled Sen. Biden's schedule Monday and Tuesday because of the passing of Jill Biden's mother, Bonny Jean Jacobs, this afternoon after a long illness," Biden spokesman David Wade said in a statement.

Mrs. Jacobs was the widow of Donald C. Jacobs, 72, a savings and loan executive from Willow Grove, Pa., who died in 1999. Mrs. Jacobs stayed home to raise Jill and her four younger sisters. The couple was married for 50 years.

Mr. Biden’s spokesman, David Wade, said that a memorial service would be held on Tuesday in Abington, Pa. - NY Times
